A Poet’s Philosophy

He writes to compose
He writes to compost
Feeling and thought
Right to the cosmos
Spilling them out
Hot cold
Milking this road
Like “Got gold?”
His pen flow drip
Like snot nose
Filling up the paper potholes
Ink in the teardrops
Thinking that we’re not whole
Illing on sheer drop
But fear not we’ve got rope
Breathe
It’s better than dope.
Bring it all together like crescendo
Sing your lettered breath all in tempo
What a temple
It’s got to be philosophy
That only poets know
But now you know

Write to compose
Write to compost
Feeling and thought
Right to the cosmos

So he writes to the cosmos
His eyes full
Like a high tide pull
Just a tadpole
Feeling all the waters of soul
Swimming the flows
He doesn’t control
Just let it go
It used to be that simple
But now the karma is more than just ripples
It all riffles
Once the child is here
She’s so little
It changes the game
It’s a new riddle
We’re just the conduit
We’re just a confluence of the life flow
Connected more than we could even know
Something our mom and dad knows
Philosophy that only poets know
But now you know

Write to compose
Write to compost
Feeling and thought
Right to the cosmos

Light in the cosmos
Embodied in the seeker
Came in through this ether
Traveling hovercraft
Of spirit in body mass
Clocked-in to the world’s meter
What a gas
What a circus!
This fear of death makes us wonder
How long will it last?
Why isn’t this perfect?
Why does it matter…
She asks
If you know you’re learning?
The world could end tomorrow
But why worry…
What’s the purpose?
Value is inherent to the moment
And you deserve this
But a mind distracted impacted it grows hopeless
It lies captive to habit failing extraction of the golden
Preoccupied with past and future
Sure leaves your Peace of Mind neutered
Let’s make the Present our number one tutor
But you knew this
Truth is bare like a nudist
Philosophy that only poets know
And now it shows

Write to compose
Write to compost
Feeling and thought
Right to the cosmos
Write to the cosmos

Like Dear Nature,
May we explore it all?
Inner and outer worlds
Inspired by the fire and the waters as they fall
Recall the aggregate of elements
All in the sentiment of One Intelligence
Could it be Love?
Reaching for the Sun in some Galactic development
With every movement of lung
Discipline the Natures like a celibate
What’s to Become?
Moving through impediments
With the force of elephants much
Stronger and relevant than a gun
Because you see —
A poets job is never done
Could be expansion or contraction as the outcome
And that’s a choice despite the doubts that come
Many are out some
Philosophy that only poets know
But now you know

Write to compose
Write to compost
Feeling and thought
Right to the cosmos
Write to the cosmos
